IA art thoughts.

Maybe I should have made it clear that I don't care about the supposed "ethics"

of AI generated art. We live under capitalism, ethical concerns went out the window with both the baby and the bath water years ago.

No, the thing that bothers me about this dumb fad is that AI art generators are going to completely cripple the creativity of young artists who haven't gotten far enough in their artistic journey to realize that they have infinitely more power to create amazing works than any stupid machine can.

"Why should I bother to learn how to draw this myself if a website can do it better and faster?"

Because being an artist isn't about just the art you create. As cliché as it sounds, it's about the journey. It's about discovering what you love about creating and how you can improve both your artistic conduct and maybe even yourself.

Being an artist is never about reaching a finish line where after 4 years of school you're just "done" and you have nothing left to learn. If you ever think that you've reached your "level cap," you've done nothing but reveal that you have so much left to learn. I know this because that's what I thought almost 15 years ago when I first started posting online.

Being an artist is 100% all about willing commitment. If you're not interested in committing yourself to becoming an artist; to always be open to new ideas, to always be ready for criticism, to learn from everyone and everything around you and to reflect on yourself, then you are not an artist.

You will never learn anything about creating art by just typing prompts into a website. It's a toy and you're just a kid playing with it.
